Progress update: 1.2

well, this one is a bit different than what I had planned… but I couldn’t hold myself back from doing this.

there is now a video on the main page! how nifty is that? and the way I pulled off the visuals… quite brilliant if I do say so myself . its getting a lot closer to what I originally intended yertalert to look like… in fact, with this featured box, it looks like almost an exact copy (at least from my memory) of a mock-up that I did a few years ago! though, some of the colors are different… but the overall layout is the same.

so yeah, working on that… and the next thing I am gonna work on is the categories, so stay tuned for that!

Progress update: 1.1: Dynamic headers

Alright, this one is somewhat minor, but its the first one I am doing today, and its still a very good accomplishment.

Well, I came up with a solution to have a different header image for each page, it seems a lot of people kinda struggle with this… but the solution was quite simple, I just closed off the header div in the index.php file, instead of the header.php file.

so now, for each new header, I just have to write a new template, that links the header that is the same size, then assign that template to the new page.

now, this kinda defeats the purpose of having multiple files for your index file (header.php, sidebar.php, etc), because one is merged with the other a little bit… but I don’t think it really hinders that much, and for what I am getting, (more control over templates, now I can edit the header with templates ) it couldn’t be more worth it.

so I will keep you posted… if you see things going weird on the site, its because I am screwing with the idea of categories. (my next project)

Progress update: 1.0

Well, I have accomplished something that I have wanted to for a LONG time.

you know how on pages (such as the chat page), even though it was a page independent of the blog, it still had a post date, a title (hideousness) and even a category!

well, I learned about templates, (another GREAT thing to know about wordpress I have found) and its now gone, all I had to do was copy the index.php file, rename it, put the template stuff on the top, delete a couple of lines of code and viola! it works! and now I feel a lot more powerful with wordpress.

so that was the first progress update… I will keep you posted

Update regarding old posts

I unpublished the previous posts because I really don’t like them… I hate my bad grammar, I hate that I was beading around the bush, that I couldn’t really get my point through… I just didn’t like them, so their “gone”, I still have them here, their just not published.

so I hope to fill this “fresh” start with new and fresh content.

New theme

I just made my first wordpress theme and your probably seeing it right now, I am rather proud of it, its the first one that I made from pretty much scratch (with the exception of the fact that it still needs some basic PHP code that only wordpess understands that I am NOT memorizing).

I still have a bit of house cleaning to do, and a few parts of the site that I want to launch, but other than that, I am really happy now

so yeah, enjoy, and expect some bigish additions in the future.
